Halloween Anniversary

I really wanted to crawl back under the covers today and stay in bed. I've been feeling sorry for myself and it's pretty pathetic. Zack has his bad days and his good days. We are in the process of trying a new medicine and he is scheduled for an upper GI on Monday to see if we can figure out what's going on. Luckily, my little munchkin doesn't let you just watch the day pass you by...he has schedules and needs and it all helps you to forget how lame you're feeling.

Besides, today is a really special day. Today is the one year anniversary of Zack coming home from the hospital. It was emotional and scary beyond belief. We had to actually care for this little thing on our own? He was so tiny and fragile! Kevin and I picked him up in the afternoon...spent time doing paperwork, taking lots of pictures and saying our farewells to the incredible staff at Tarzana's NICU. The nurses loved him so much and cared for him (and me) like he was their own. I spent a lot of nights in those rocking chairs feeling like I do today...sorry for myself and using up all their tissue (which probably cost me 4 bucks a tissue at hospital prices!)

In any event, Zack has come so far and is such an awesome kid...He smiles through everything and always makes me laugh...even when I don't want to. So Z...Happy Anniversary and Happy Halloween...may you never see the inside of a hospital again. Your mom and dad love you!

Standing tall

My baby isn't such a baby anymore...he figured out how to get to everything on the coffee table (we finally stopped taking things away and accepted that we just had to clear it off!)...he's standing and holding on to everything now...walking is next. God help us!

You say it's your birthday!!!!!!!!!!

Well, it's MY birthday, too!!

Zack had a wonderful first birthday. All his favorite people were there like Grandma, Auntie Kim, Auntie and Unk, Auntie Joni and so many more! We BBQ'd and Zack drank fruit punch out of a straw. He was spoiled rotten for the whole day and he deserved every minute of it. A big THANK YOU to everyone who shared in his day.

It's been a long and amazing year for Zack, Kevin and myself. We've had some hard times and some fantastic adventures and I wouldn't trade a minute of it. Zack, your mom and dad love you very much and we're so proud of how far you've come.
